Diu's Maheshwari Restaurant closed for two days for violation of hygiene norms

The restaurant of Hotel Maheshwari, located in the Saudwadi area of Diu, has been closed for two days for failing to comply with hygiene rules. During the inspection conducted by Food Safety Officer Hemalbhai Bamaniya, several serious deficiencies were found in the restaurant, following which a show-cause notice has also been issued to the management.

According to a report by Sandesh, it was revealed during the investigation that the restaurant's food license and the medical certificates of the staff had expired long ago. A pest control certificate was also not available in the kitchen, and flies were observed there. The staff were not wearing uniforms. Furthermore, buttermilk was kept in the non-veg refrigerator, and water test reports were also not available.

The administration has clarified that permission to reopen the restaurant will not be granted until all these issues are resolved. Such inspections are conducted periodically in Diu district to ensure strict compliance with government rules and to protect public health, as customers cannot enter the kitchen to verify cleanliness.
