The ban on the movement of heavy vehicles on the Modasa-Nadiad State Highway-59, which passes through Arvalli district, has been extended. District Collector Milind Bapna has taken this decision for the next two months, keeping in view the traffic congestion and safety.
According to a report by Sandesh, this ban will be in effect from 08 November 2026 to 06 January 2027. During this period, heavy vehicles will not be able to ply on this highway every day from 08:00 hours in the morning to 08:00 hours at night. As Modasa is an administrative and educational centre and is close to the Rajasthan border, traffic has increased here. Vehicles heading towards Vadodara-Mumbai use SH-59 to save toll tax, due to which accidents occur.
As an alternative route for heavy vehicles, the four-lane State Highway-05 (Modasa-Malpur-Lunawada-Godhra) or National Highway No. 48 (Shamlaji-Himmatnagar-Chiloda) can be used.
Modasa is the headquarters of Arvalli district and is known as an important administrative and educational centre.
