One screen heavily damaged by fire at Padma Theatre in Kerala

A massive fire broke out early Friday morning at the Padma Cinema Theatre located in the Kottappadi area of Malappuram district in Kerala. According to officials from the Fire and Rescue Services, one of the two screens in the theatre has been heavily damaged due to the fire.

According to a report by The Hindu, the incident occurred on Friday morning at approximately 4.15 am. The fire broke out in Screen 2 of the theatre. It is noteworthy that two new films were scheduled to be released at the theatre on Friday, but this accident disrupted the programme.

Theatre employees reported the fire in a timely manner and immediately alerted the nearest fire station. Upon receiving the information, two fire tenders from the Malappuram Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot and commenced operations to extinguish the blaze.

Officials stated that the fire was brought under control after intensive efforts lasting nearly an hour. Due to the timely intervention of the fire department personnel, the fire was prevented from spreading to other parts of the theatre, thereby averting greater loss.

An investigation into the causes of the incident is underway, although officials suspect that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.
