A murderer serving a life sentence in an open jail in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district travelled to Thailand for five days through the collusion of a jail warder. The most shocking aspect of the entire incident is that while the prisoner was abroad, his presence was being marked in the official jail records. The revelation of this scam has caused a stir within the jail administration.
According to a report by Amar Ujala, the prisoner's name is Dikshant Kamra. The matter came to light following a complaint by a woman. Jail Director General Ashok Rathore stated that a woman recently visited his office with her family. This woman levelled serious allegations against Dikshant Kamra, claiming he had cheated her and mentally harassed her. The woman further stated that Kamra possesses weapons and is involved in the illegal drug trade. Additionally, she revealed that Kamra had travelled abroad despite being in jail.
Taking the woman's complaint seriously, the Jail Director General instructed officials to keep a close watch on the evening roll call of the prisoners. Upon investigation, the records showed that Dikshant Kamra was present in the jail. Subsequently, when the police searched his vehicle, opium was recovered from it. The police have registered a case against him under the NDPS Act in this matter.
After the recovery of opium from the vehicle, the Jail Director General obtained the details of Dikshant Kamra's passport. During the passport verification, the shocking fact emerged that Kamra had gone to Thailand on 9 October 2025 and returned to India on 13 October. Thus, he remained abroad for a total of five days, but during this period, his presence was recorded in the jail register.
Jail Director General Ashok Rathore ordered an investigation and a report regarding this foreign trip and the jail attendance records. The investigation identified the employee who had falsely marked Kamra's attendance. For this serious negligence and collusion, the Jail Director General has ordered the registration of an FIR against Dikshant Kamra and jail warder Hapuram. Following this incident, warder Hapuram has been suspended with immediate effect.
A major question has also arisen in this case as to why Kamra's passport was not seized when he was arrested in 2018, which enabled him to travel abroad.
Dikshant Kamra is a convict in the Dushyant murder case that took place in the Jhotwara area of Jaipur in 2018. In this case, Priya Seth, Kamra, and his associates had kidnapped Dushyant and demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh from his father. According to the report, after ₹3 lakh was deposited into Dushyant's account, the accused strangled him to death. After the murder, the accused disfigured his face with a knife and dumped the body in a suitcase in the Amer area. Following the shocking murder, Dikshant Kamra and Priya Seth were arrested in 2018.
